FAQ
-
What age can a student begin piano lessons?
The academy welcomes learners of all ages and stages. Piano sessions are available for ages 4 & up.
-
Do we need a piano before starting lessons?
Students who have access to a piano for practicing at home will obviously make greater gains. Families may begin with a smaller piano model or basic electronic keyboard when beginning lessons. Upgrades can be made as students progress. (Full-size, 88 keys, and weighted piano key action are the most ideal choices for purchase.)
-
Can parents attend the piano lessons?
Students typically learn better when they are able to navigate their instruction independently. Parents are welcome to wait in the front lobby area during lessons or may drop off & pick up students via the piano studio. (I usually ask families to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their lesson since I will not be responsible for children outside of their lesson time.)
-
What days are offered for piano sessions?
Piano sessions are scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesdays, & Thursday. (Families may submit a request for another day/time to be offered in the future.)
-
Do you offer performance opportunities? Are they required?
We typically perform in 2-3 events throughout the year. I encourage all students to participate in these events, yet If a student feels uncomfortable or overly anxious about performing, I take that into consideration and will find other ways for them to perform so that they also experience success.
-
What if we need to miss a lesson?
Families may swap their regularly scheduled lesson or class time for another session that same week if there are openings. If unable to switch lesson times that same week, the instructor will send a video and/or audio lesson.
-
What if the teacher needs to cancel a session?
If a teacher is unable to attend a piano session, family will be notified via email and/or text. Make up lesson times will be scheduled for specific dates thoughout the year as needed. Families are responsible to schedule their make up times when posted or to communicate any scheduling conflicts.

What if we want to drop lessons?
Obviously those who continue instruction for the entire academic year will see the most progress and growth, yet if you need to drop lessons for any reason, just submit a lesson drop form. This must be submitted before the next billing cycle.
