Playing music should be fun!

The best feedback I love to hear from students is, "That was so much fun!"

I approach teaching in my studio with the joy of students engaging with others, the freedom to experiment creatively, and the internal motivation to continue learning.

I listen to students share their interests, incorporate multiple group opportunities, and strive to see lots of smiles and laughter!

I noticed that when students experienced those key elements, they began to progress faster, were eager to attend lessons, and stuck with their musical studies longer!  I even enjoyed teaching music more!

My musical experiences have included teaching music at Kennedy Elementary in Fargo, ND, directing the Kennedy Comet Youth Choirs, and leading piano instruction at Pamela's Piano Academy.

I have also served as graduate professor at MSUM (Moorhead) in the Kodaly Certification Program, which specializes in Music Pedagogy and Folksong Analysis.

Other musical experiences encompass directing numerous school/church elementary and secondary choirs, preparing students for piano and choral festivals/contests, hosting public performances for community events, and so much more.

My foundational education includes a Bachelor of Science in Music Education & Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from MSUM (Moorhead). Other teaching philosophies are based the pedagogical studies of Kodaly & Orff methods.

“The good teacher….knows that the best learning environment is always student-centered, never teacher-centered.”
